CollabShot

The functionality CollabShot has to offer can be divided into three categories: take a screenshot, upload the screenshot to the web, share and collaborate with others. Press Ctrl + Alt + P and you can use CollabShot to quickly take a screenshot of a rectangular region on the desktop. The screenshot will then be uploaded to the web and the link to the screenshot will be copied to the clipboard. You can paste the link in an email for example and invite others to view the screenshot and collaborate with you.

CollabShot is available for multiple platforms: Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.

While CollabShot is running, you will see an icon in the system tray. Right click this icon and you will be presented with a context menu that features the following options: upload files, upload images from URLs, history, sign in/out, keyboard shortcuts, choose storage dir, enable sound, About CollabShot, and quit.

When you run CollabShot for the first time, you will be informed that you can take a screenshot by using the Ctrl + Alt + P keyboard shortcut. From the options menu (right click the system tray icon and select “keyboard shortcuts”) you can change this hotkey and you can view some other handy hotkeys.

Press the aforementioned Ctrl + Alt + P hotkey and you can select a rectangular region; when you hit the Enter key, the application will take a screenshot, upload it to the web, and copy the link to the screenshot to your clipboard. Paste the link in your web browser and you will be presented with a webpage that features the following: the screenshot, tools to edit the screenshot (pencil, eraser, note, and more), and a handy IM window so you can talk to the person you want to collaborate.
